Lapis Lazuli is a novel based on the experience of an ex-soldier cum assassin who has been hired by the big guns in the democratic government to eliminate a revolutionary who was bound to liquidate the south-south part of the country.
It also opens up the rotten relationships and escapades between the high ranking officials in the military and civilian government with good facts that make the story looks almost non-fiction.
This story, set in Nigeria across various states in the country runs about 60,000 words and is somewhat similar in tone to Catherine Merridale's Lenin on the train.
Lapis Lazuli also uses the most of Nigerian places names as well as rail transportation from south-south through the west and north of the country. |
